Setup and use

G Navigation puts the next turn on your wrist. The G Navigation app on an Android phone or iPhone does the navigating; the watch only displays. The four steps below take about five minutes.

Version 1.2Updated 29 September 2026G Navigation · com.gnavigation.watch

What you need

An Android phone or an iPhone (iOS 16 or later) with Huawei Health installed and paired to the watch, the G Navigation app on the phone, Bluetooth on, and G Navigation installed on the watch. The watch app does nothing by itself until G Navigation is on the phone.

01

Install G Navigation on the phone

Pick the store that matches your phone. Every build pairs with the watch app.

Open G Navigation once after installing, accept its privacy policy and allow location while using the app. The phone needs location to navigate; the watch does not.

02

Pair the watch through Huawei Health

The watch app talks to the phone over Huawei Wear Engine, so the watch must be paired in Huawei Health on that same phone.

  • Open Huawei Health, go to Devices and make sure the watch shows as connected.
  • Keep Huawei Health running in the background. If the phone has aggressive battery saving, allow Huawei Health and G Navigation to run in the background.
  • The first time the watch app connects, the phone may ask to let G Navigation use Wear Engine. Allow it.
  • On iPhone, pair the watch in the HUAWEI Health app for iOS. If G Navigation shows Not allowed yet, tap Allow in Huawei Health and approve G Navigation there.
03

Open G Navigation on the watch for the first time

The watch shows its privacy notice before doing anything else. Read it and tap Agree. Cancel quits the app without registering the data channel.

The watch then looks for G Navigation on the phone. If it cannot find it, you see the Not connected screen with a Setup guide button, which brought you to this page, and a Retry button.

04

Start a trip

  • On the phone, open G Navigation, search for a destination on the map, choose a route and start navigation.
  • On Android you can also navigate with Google Maps or Petal Maps as usual; G Navigation reads the guidance and forwards it to the watch.
  • Look at your wrist. Within a few seconds the watch shows text directions first, then switches to the map when the first map image arrives.
05

What the watch shows

The map around youTurned to your heading, so the road ahead always points up. The part already ridden is grey, the rest of the route blue.
The next turnArrow, distance to the turn and street name sit in the panel under the map. The clock and minutes remaining are the panel's top line.
Full textTap the map for the large-text screen: distance left, arrow, distance, instruction and arrival time. Tap again to return to the map.

Swipe sideways to leave the current screen. When the trip ends or the phone stops navigating, the watch returns to the connection screen.

06

Settings from the phone

Every display option lives in G Navigation, in its watch display settings, and syncs to the watch as soon as you change it. The watch has no settings menu of its own. On iPhone they are under Watch → Display on the watch.

Text size and colours
Distance size, street size, arrival size, and the colour of each line.
Arrow
Turn-arrow size and the vibration before a turn, including the distance at which it starts.
Arrival
Show the arrival time at the top of the face instead of in the panel; add the distance left and the current clock.
Wrist side
Left or right wrist, so the panel moves to the matching side.
Text only, battery saver
Turn the map off to receive text only, or enable battery saver when the watch battery is low.
Image reset
Off by default. Turn it on only if the watch map goes black after a few minutes; the watch then returns to its home screen and reopens at once.
07

When the watch says Not connected

  • Make sure G Navigation is open or running in the background on the phone, and that this phone is the one paired with the watch in Huawei Health.
  • Turn Bluetooth on, bring the phone close to the watch, then tap Retry on the watch.
  • In G Navigation, open the watch device section and check that your Huawei watch is selected, not another watch.
  • If you just reinstalled G Navigation, open it once and grant location again before retrying.
  • If it still fails, toggle Bluetooth on the phone or restart the watch.
08

Privacy and contact

The watch app does not use the watch's GPS, health data, accounts, files or camera. Position stays in memory, map images are temporary files, and the watch stores only your consent and the display settings. Read the full watch app privacy policy.
